Article 9 reinstatement
A pre-15-June-1940 citizen, child, grandchild, or great-grandchild may seek reinstatement. Citizenship proof and every family link still matter.
Article 10 simplified grant
A never-previously-Lithuanian person with a Lithuanian parent or grandparent by origin may request a discretionary presidential grant. A great-grandparent does not meet this route.
Certificates and child routes
Origin and right-to-reinstate certificates are not citizenship. Adoption and a parent's later status change use separate child rules and require careful review.
Lithuanian birth, ethnicity, a surname, or a civil record that does not state citizenship is not enough by itself.
How do you map the Lithuanian routes?

Article 10 and adoption are separate processes. They are not additional links in the biological reinstatement chain.

Is Lithuanian citizenship by descent automatic?
Not as a general ancestry rule. Citizenship may have arisen at birth through a citizen parent. Article 9 reinstatement and Article 10 simplified grant are separate processes.
Can a great-grandparent support a route?
Article 9 can reach a great-grandchild of a pre-15-June-1940 citizen. Article 10 stops at a Lithuanian-origin parent or grandparent.
Can I keep my current citizenship?
Possibly, but Article 7 is a separate test. Departure, exile, destination, return, and residence on 11 March 1990 may require manual review.
Does adoption create citizenship from birth?
No. Under current Article 17, a child adopted by Lithuanian citizen or citizens acquires citizenship from the adoption date. Cross-border recognition and nationality facts still require review.
Does a parent's later reinstatement automatically cover a child?
No. Article 27 and its age, consent, representation, and other-citizenship conditions must be reviewed.
How long does Article 10 take?
The published three-month period concerns the Migration Department preparation and referral stage. It is not a final presidential-decision or citizenship-completion estimate.
